Ford v Ferrari Movie Review

There are some types of movies that you grow to be attracted to and then there are some that you are just naturally attracted to. Something about racing, cars and high speed seem to make my heart beat like I am talking to my crush. This I discovered after watching "Herbi", the original movie with Dean Jones and any thriller like "Italian Job".

The other movie attraction I came to like are "Based on True Stories" and this love came from watching the animated movies such as "Balto" and "Anistaisa" to movies like the "Remember the Titans" and "We are Marshall". I found I loved looking up the REAL history and learning about their true life - I like history.

With this movie hitting both of those it then pulled at my own love of Fords and Mustangs, for I grew up in a Ford loving family. My dad'd first card was a Ford and so was mine, he had not only a small truck but 2 Ford tractors for our small farm. My grandfather owned a big truck he would use to hull things around his farm and later just for personal use. My siblings also share the same love, we are Ford people.

So while I was surfing the movies app, as it seems this is what my life is all about it now a days, I found the movie I have been DYING to see with Stars Christian Bale and Matt Damon, Ford v Ferrarie!

Other names found in this movie are Josh Lucas (Sweet Home Alabama - Jake) and from iconic tv shows; Caitriona Balfe (Outlander - Clare) and Jon Bernthal (Walking Dead - Shane).

Now that you know the level of what drove me to watch this (sadly not in theaters - another story) let me talk about the movie!

This movie is about Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles, their love for fast cars and creating something beyond the possible in the world of cars! This is a bromance (for those who love those) at the heart, they fight and work things out, they have huge talks without saying to much. These two had a connection that melts the heart and I am sad to say don't always come around, I am very luck to know I have my Ken Miles in my corner in my life! And both actors did AMAZINGLY at getting this feel good friendship!

I am sad to say that I found that I hated Mr. Beebe (Josh Lucas), and truly wish that the real person got his just deserves. Josh does a wonderful job at playing the deuce-est, slime ball in the movie, you want to strangle his neck but you would have to pull his head out of his butt to do so. And I guess it was not to far off.

The Gent who plays Ford Jr also had his moments, in the film he seems to be a spoiled rich older man who wants to live in his dad's foot steps and doesn't truly think for himself on what is truly best for ford. And from Mr. Beebe giving his 2 cents to Ford Jr. we got this movie - so sadly, I think this might not be to far off on Big Biz listening to people who want to toot their own horn rather then do what is morally right.

I loved K. Miles wife in the film, played by Caitriona Balfe, she was understanding but she also laid thing out to him on where they stand and what she expects of him.

This Film had me at the edge of my seat and heart racing as fast as the racers! So many moments where at the end of a race I had to take a long sigh from me holding my breath! I will same the music also help amp up the anticipation and all but even though there was no guns shots or blood this movie had me more on my seat then the thrillers I have seen as of late.

There is so much to love on this movie that I see it as a must see for anyone!

As for the real life stuff, the REAL Ken Miles, yes I feel was robbed like the rest of the world, and hope with this movie help bring about some change to that. I would love to see him go down as a Triple Crown owner but it would only be meaningful with his decedents and those who loved him that are still around for sadly he is no longer with us as for Mr Shelby who passed in 2012. (This was in the 60s)

And near the end of Miles's life there are some that believe it was conspiracy, and I can see that if Mr. Beebe was truly that evil of a man and other say it was just him being unlucky. So I guess this is where you ask yourself  'Did Carroll Baskin kill her husband?' or not. We my never know, but I take comfort that now his story get to be told and hopefully Ford makes something for racing called KM in his memory and take it for a spin in today's races!

Feel the Beat on Netflix movie Review

As I was scanning My good ol' friend Netflix this original movie popped up as a recommendation for me to watch, Feel the Beat.

Being the person I am and the few lucky years I got to learn dance I tend to have a soft spot in my heart for most dance films. This one caught my eye even more then Center Stage did for the premise.

This movie, Feel the Beat is about a down on her luck girl going home after feeling like she failed New York and ends up teaching some girls in her home town to try for her last shot in show biz.

The movie goes on as one would guess, not a lot of twist and turns like a thriller, this is just a simple movie done with a wonderful cast and I loved the guess shots near the end!!!

What makes me connect to this movie is a few things, and some may to the common person seem weird but they are three and no matter how small it is that is what make us, the consumers fall in love with movies, books, and music.

This film has a hand full of little things that it plays off of and one is that when our girl is down her dad tells her she needs cheese. Now, in most films or families we go to soul food, Ice cream, cake, pies, cookies and alcohol. In my family we go to the sweets when one is down, I myself go to the cliche Ice cream I keep in my freezer for me and a bottle of wine. So this "Cheese" thing was very different and my first thought was I bet we are in Wisconsin, ONLY a cheese head would offer that. (sorry if that term offends anyone it is not meant to be a negative thing just to show what they are known for) But at the same time I was surprised since I didn't think people not around there (or the neighboring states) would of known that.So that was fun for me as an Easter egg, for I LOVE when film does something different the big cities.

Another thing is that this film has a death girl in in and does use American Sign Language through half the film. This gives me all the feels! I see that some shows are starting to put that into their shows like the Dragon Prince Netflix and I am so exited to see this group get some face time!

But the big thing that got me was early on in this movie when she comes back from tryouts and she is being forced to face the truth and she then talks to her dad for a brief time. For that scene takes me back, back to when I myself felt like my world was falling a part and had I wasn't sure what to do but I told all my loved ones that I was fine and tried to hide it from the world. In truth I still finding myself doing this but it is a level that pulled me into this film.

That scene was not only well done by the 2 actors but the writers did a beautiful job on capturing the moment.

Now, I know that this is a movie and you have to have a point the proves the the main character has changed for the better but I also don't believe that the last 15-30 min of the movie  would truly happen that way. But I don't work in Hollywood or New York just small things here and there and indie stuff.

Check out this film if you have Netflix or find a friend that does! It is a beautiful film and deserves to be seen.

Discovering the World of Tremors

Back in the 1990s there was a movie called Tremors and since then there has been 6, yes 6 other movies to this series. I knew of 4 and thought I saw something about a 5th once and as I was power through these that dropped on Netflix I found a 6th Tremor movie, and as I was looking up some images I saw they are making a 7th movie!

If you have never watched any of the Tremor movies I will let you know now the first one is the best of the set and unless you want more of this world 2 and 3 is where you can stop if you even wanted to make it that far.

So here it is my over view!

In the first movie from 1990, we find a set of people in a little valley village, and each one makes their mark one way or another though out the full run of the series.

In this one, not only is Kevin Bacon in this first one with a list of other actors I am not to well educated about but also the country singer Reba McEntire. Keven Bacon and his fried start the movie with fun banter with each other like best friends. And then through in a girl, and the banter is on!

The store owner (as will be in all others) is of Asian decent and seems to be friends with a native american who also lives in the village.

You then have the village idiot  and other smaller villagers that are only in for a second or 2, the punk kid that everyone what to punch, and then a single mom and her child..

Then comes in Reba McEntire and her husband. another great duo in this film other then Keven and his friend. The way her and Micheal Gross are as husband and wife is, I feel the best dynamic to add to this film and is mist in the other films

In Tremors 2: Aftershock you have Fred Ward (Keven Bacon's friend in the first movie) and Micheal Gross team up to fight the next evolution of these ground warms in Mexico. In this film you hear about them as comic books and arcade games.  I found this fun side story and in truth wrapped up the story line for me and Fred Ward's character.

Tremors 3: Back to Perfection takes us back to the small village and brings back the village people that made it out alive in the first film and bringing us a few new people as well. In this one they really hit hard the impact of this film and how these worms now have turned the town into a theme park adventure till things get rough.

here is where I would say we could end our tail and the evolution of these worms but there is more!

We go back with a prequel in Tremors 4: the legend begins to when the small town was built and seeing most everyone's ancestors for the townies in the first and 3rd movie movie and you get to see all 3 versions of the worms. Was this needed? I don't feel like it was and also I feel it made some plot holes, but that is me.

And if you thought we where done, with how these worms morph as it showed in the prequel you are wrong! In Tremors 5: Bloodlines we find Burt (Micheal Gross) going to Africa with a new friend that has a fun secret of his own that you find out later. I did like his lines hinting towards this secret he keeps and it makes sense after he spills the beans. And yes there is one more morph but not like the others, it is more like and adaption to the environment. The one thing I really like about this film was the adding of Jamie Kennedy's character Travis.

The banter between Burt and Travis is fun to watch.

In Tremors 6: Cold Day in Hell. Well now the two head on ward to Canada in the colder clement to the next and maybe last chance? I find this is the worst of the 6 with the biggest plot holes when it come to the worms and ice. One fun thing I did like was the child of Keven Bacon's character in the first movie is the one that calls Burt.

And just when you thought they where done, I found a TV series that is on YouTube!

If you still would like more Tremors they are in the works of making one more, Tremors 7. In this one you have Burt and an island... SO what I found on good ol' IMDB is that someone rich person takes some of these Graboids (Tremors gen 2) for a fun hunting sport. I am getting the feeling that this is going to be like Jurassic park but with the Tremor family!

Little Mermaid Universe Review

I was taking a trip down memory lane with the Little Mermaid on Disney+, why? Growing up this was my favorite movie and story, and has remained one of my favorites. I had no doubt that all the movies were going to be on this new app but was never so excited to see that they had also put the series on the app so I could relive my childhood and find out how bad Ariel's Beginning was.

After watching Ariel's Beginning and putting on the Series to keep walking down memory line I thought I would blog about it from the beginning.

In the late 1980's they made this movie that I had always hope to turn into a Broadway play and live action movie in my lifetime so I could auction for the role of Ariel. I had even made my own fan-fiction with Ariel having a daughter who would meet Aladdin's son and go on her own adventures among other versions of fan-fiction with the world of Ariel and Aladdin.

Needless to say it did happen around the time I could follow that idea I just happen to be in the wrong place and found out about it to late, but that is neither here nor there now.

I honestly don't remember much merch when this show came out other then a few things. Witch was confirmed by my mother since she looked high and low for more merch for my room, like clocks, lamps and such. We did not find that till I was a teenager (who still loved this classic story)

Then one day on ABC I found in the early to mid 90's they made a TV series that I fell in love with! (Aladdin was also a series around the same time) This series had a small back story on how Ariel met Flounder, the friends she made under the sea, showed some of her family life and also had her love for human things while not distorting ANY characters from the 1989 movie. There are many other reasons to love this series but that is just a few.

As I write this blog I had the series playing in the background and I realized how much I remembered by the title alone, some I need the one line descriptions, and so far only a few that I need to watch the first 5 min to remind me.

Somehow this movie picked up steam and in the 2000's Disney made the Little Mermaid II, that would star her daughter and Ariel. I remember watching this thinking that it could of been so much better! I have not re-watched it in a long time and thought about it but I would have way more to write then anyone would want to read on an overview.

I will add that this was my my little sister's favorite for a minuet since she seemed to always like the same things I did and would always go for the child of the character I liked. As an adult she says it was because they where a child like her and she liked them for that among others, and that has since changed. :)

Then after that Disney made another movie (not remembering the
series -obviously) to the origins of Ariel, I see this was the worst I ever saw!!! Not only did it not stay true to the characters but also never really talked about WHY she was banded from the human world, music was never a thought from the series or movie and there is a scene where the family is in a lagoon singing! That was this biggest thing that made me upset about this story, and that was the whole plot of this movie! There was other things that was off from the original story and series.

Not only was the story line and characters was off but so was the animations, they did not do the sisters justice, they would go to bed with the same hair and then "fix" it in the morning when there was nothing to fix.

The room they had layout was also bad, they are princesses they would have their own bed rooms not one like the orphanage in Anastasia and such.

There was so much bad that as the series still plays in the background I see how much better the series was and even the layout of the rooms matched what was in the movie.

I feel that last movie was made by people who just didn't care and wanted to put something out with the title of the Little Mermaid and not doing any research on the story that the Disney Co made for this lovable princess and her world!

I hope the live action movie will not let me down like these additional movies did and the writers do their research on this world.

Robin Hood Movies reviews

Hello again, it has been a long time but I am trying to make some time to return here, to the digital world. I had thought of many things I could talk about here and topics but it is late at night and I was watching on of the many versions of Robin hood and wanted to share some thoughts on it.

Robin Hood has been remade and retold in so many forms, the first movie to grace the world of the the tale of Robin and his men was in 1908 and went by the name Robin Hood and His Merry Men, if you go by Wikipedia. But of the first set of remakes and the one that started the love of Robin was during the silent era in 1922, with Douglas Fairbanks. A name that was as well known as John Wayne or Brad Bit are today. This silent film inspired the next well known film in 1938, Adventures of Robin Hood, hat out ranked the 1922 version, this remake stared the loved action star Errol Flynn in what many say was his greatest role. From here list goes on, just look at IMDB when you type in Robin Hood!

I will not go into details on all the films, shorts or even covers just a few that I remember that set me up for the story of how one man can inspire so many, live outside the law when the law is unjust and corrupted by the government and be so humble that he want nothing more then to give his riches to those in need.

Let me begin with the one from my earliest memory of Robin, Disney's animated Robin Hood.

Before I was born in 1973, Walt Disney made this beloved animated cartoon with animals. As a child I never thought of the animals representing anything but just being fun. Now, many years later and looking back I see that it was not just random but planned.

I will not go into a lot of detail but I will say this, the songs, animation, and story shown with animals was a great idea for a child to fall in love with this classic story. Although not all the characters in the original story made it into this version, and with that I mean Will. He has been in many versions and not all in a good way.

I do love the voice cast, for they used the talents of people who had the roles in another Disney movie, the Jungle Book.

As a side comment I will bring back up how there was an older very well know Robin Hood movie from 1938 with  Errol Flynn. This was so well known that in 1949 when Warner Brothers did Rabbit Hood with Bugs Bunny they had a small clip at the end  with his Iconic line, "Welcome to Sherwood."

WB did other short films with reference to Robin but I will not get into that today, just know they are there.

I have not seen these in so long that it seems like a distinct memory, I do remembering loving the Bugs Bunny versions since it was not the normal story line. It was Bugs being Bugs, and him dealing with the sheriff in his way meeting other known players in the story and him nothing thinking Robin was even a real person. Seeing the clip at the end told me there was another out there that one day I might see and understand this nod to another film.

The Errol Flynn film, that took the world is still a great classic to see and once you see this you will find small hints of this film in others, like the Disney's animated movie, the remake in 91 and then Mel Brook's - but I am getting ahead of myself.

Again many, many remakes, shorts, parodies, and of the like from this 1938 with Errol Flynn to the the 1964 musical set in 1930's Chicago called Robin and the 7 Hoods staring Frank Sinatra to the 1973 Disney animated film to my next film in 1991 that became a big reference point in the Robin Hood Films.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves in 1991 had a huge cast of people, Kevin Costner, Morgan Freeman, Alan Rickman, and Sean Connery. Now a fun fact to know about Sean being in this film is that this was he third time in the Robin Hood movies but now he played King Richard over Robin. He was in the 1976 Robin and Marian film with the lovely Audrey Hepburn and something smaller in the 80's

But I bring this film up next not because it was the next film I saw in the Robin series I saw growing up but because without seeing this movie the Film that Mel Brooks does not meet all that it can be!

This film is the first that I can think of that bring in diversity and new characters to the story line that made this one different then the others making it stand out from the other remakes.

Just a few years later Mel Brooks took this film and made a parody of it in 1993 calling it Robin Hood: Men in Tights using Costner's version from 1991 and Flynn's from 1938. This film was so well done and is one of my Favorite films that he did, the attention to details strait to the makes and hair to the characters themselves is just something to see and can not be explained!

To fully appreciate this film I would HIGHLY recommend to see both Flynn and Costner's films. I did not see the 1991 Robin Hood till after I saw this film and still loved it and found it supper funny. I saw the 1991 film and my jaw dropped on how close Mel had taken things to the one in the 90's with little reference to the 1938.

After what I feel was a master piece to round off the Robin Hood series comes the 2010 remake with Russel Crow, this was a different take then all the others. Robin was not Loxley, Marian was not a maiden and she was not the kind of woman to stand by.

Marian was played by Cate Blanchett, whom now I find it hard to see her in anything not fairy tale like or fantasy with her roles from Lord of the Rings and Thor.

This film was not awful, it was different and gave a new tell to the story. Not may favorite but decent, I watched it twice only realizing I watched it once half way through the movie a second time.

This film is darker then then the others and does not follow the same war that the others talk about getting the king back. They also have a all the main people, Will, Little John, Tuck and 2 more that that escape me.

The last film I want to end with is the one from 2018.

I am at a lost for words on this film, when I heard about it I thought, 'oh, just another remake maybe with a twist'

I was not far from the mark, this is Robin Hood with huge twists. I felt like I was watching a steam punk or sci fi influenced version of Robin Hood. you had a nod to the 1991 film with an Arab friend helping Robin out, you have you main cast.

I did love how the made Marian a thief in the beginning of the movie and it was different to see medieval wear with more modern flares to it.

This was not my favorite, and in truth it is hard to be the 1993 spoof of Robin hood for me but for a younger crowed who want something different, maybe with a little Steam Punk flare this is up your ally.

After looking up all the dates on these films, for there was no way I would remember all the dates on these films I found some that I think is just fun to mention and one I would like to see.

2017 Hindi Film
2012 German/USA film
What film did you see? Would like to see? Or was your favorite in this crazy list of remakes and such?

New year, New Resultions

So, as I seem to do every year is post something to bring in the new year with something, anything that comes to mind with something to make life more bearable or more interesting depending on how you look at it or what is going on my world.

Yes, January is almost over but that will not stop this post!

Last year I wanted to read 40 books (not counting Manga/comics) Did not quite make it half way unless I count manga then I passed it all. :(

When reading books from a reading challenge it is hard to stay on track when people from all corners lend you books. I found that when people hear you are doing a reading challenge they end up telling you, 'that you must read this book!' Some people didn't know and handed me books anyways but we where talking about books since I had books on the brain.

Last year was the year of reading but not all the books on my challenge but since I was tying to leave an easy life I didn't fret. This year, I am going to change it up! I am going to read book as they come, lent or found and work on weeding through the books and get rid of those I will not reread nor recommend to other keeping only my favorites or those I would like to read a clip from and record it for auditions. With the new reading challenge in mind as what to read first, setting those as a priority!

Not only will the challenge help keep me on track but it will help clean out the bookcases so the next I move -which my be sooner then I had planned, depending how things go- my life will be so much easer when moving these wonderful yet heave addition I have with less of them to pack.

As for the Easy Living, yes it was great to just relax without caring to much on things but I found that there where something's that I did very much care on and have realized what things in my life are worth more and ways to keep that stress down since now I know it is something that I do care on.

Did I get each room clean with this easy way of life? Not so much but I did take my time and learn to say good bye to things that once had a purpose and meaning to me that now do not and just take up space, space I do not have for them so I would try to find them a lovely home. In the end We have to remember that things are just that and the memory does not lie with them but within, and one can always take a photo and scrap book it.

And during my 30th year on this earth I will work on getting studio equipment to record videos and audio tapes to get those sent out by the end of my 30th year and wait for the replay (if any) the year after.

Summery, read books to clean off self (reading challenge from Popsuger as primary books) and To get Studio equipment for recording both audio and Video.

Good luck on your journey through your New year!

PopSugar 2017 Reading challange

Okay, so here is the list I have decide on so far, now the idea here was to pick one for each number (for the ambushes reader I can be) also I believe this is the way Popsugar intended it to be but for me and my easy living motto I am trying this year I also wanted to make sure that they crossed over to other areas incase don't get to all 40. Also encase any who reads this would like to join me I will have a list of books to help with ideas.

Besides the "one for each" doubles as cross overs I also tried picking from my TBR list and books that I already owned, since I do not own all there will be a few I will go out to look to barrow or buy or rent (for the audio ones). Starting for the ones I have had on my list the longest (The first ones I listed on Goodreads in the day not the ones that have collected dust) and such. So by doing this all the books listed cross over to the category of  "been on my list to long", there might be one or 2 that are not as long but still to long for me.

I did go ahead and list other areas that each book could be listed under and making those one I will read before others with less areas. So that I would know the other areas that each book could be listed under I went a head and put the number of each area to scroll and see.
